Blizzard Bag #2: Sculpture 1
Your Blizzard Bag assignment is the first part of your Final Exam Project. Read the
expectations below and complete steps 1-3 under "Process". (See highlighted area)

“Nature in Motion” Stabile Final Exam
Stabile: An abstract sculpture that has moving features but a
stationary base; first created by artist, Alexander Calder.
Create an “in the round” stabile inspired by artists
Alexander Calder, Julie Frith or Timothy Rose.  
Your sculpture should be an abstraction of
“nature in motion” and have at least one moving part.  
You will be using 3 of the following materials:
wire, foam core, wood, matboard/cardboard, colored paper.  
You may use other materials in addition to these
materials as well.

FINAL EXAM PROJECT REQUIREMENTS:
EMPHASIS: Abstract sculpture of nature in motion (stabile)
PROPORTION:  Consider sizes of each of the elements in comparison
to each other, 8-12”
BALANCE: Work should be physically and visually balanced
PROCESS:  Follow the directions of the project
UNITY:  Pieces should look like they all belong together to
illustrate the theme
CONTRAST: A variety of elements…shapes, colors, textures,
sizes, forms
MOVEMENT: Stabile should clearly demonstrate movement
inspired by nature
CREATIVITY AND ORIGINALITY
QUALITY CRAFTSMANSHIP
“NATURE IN MOTION STABILE PROJECT”
Process:
1.   Find 5 images of stabiles online (search Alexander Calder, Julie Frith,
or Timothy Rose mobiles).  Print and attach these images to this paper.
2.  List 10 things below that make you think of nature in motion
such as birds flying, leaves blowing in the wind, fire, water.
